Silk satin shawl, dyed with onion skins & logwood, printed with sumac and virginia creeper leaves [SC299]

Wonderfully luxurious large silk satin shawl, dyed with onion skins, logwood and tara; printed with sumac, virginia creeper and ash leaves, with fennel seedheads, lovingly hand dyed and hand printed with sustainable methods and materials [SC299].

The shawl was dyed by hand with onion skins, then covered with sumac, virginia creeper, ash leaves and fennel seedheads gathered from my garden and neighbourhood in south Liverpool.  The shawl was then covered with a 'carrier' blanket soaked in logwood dye and tara tannin, which transferred the dye colour to the background. it was all then bundled onto a copper pipe and steamed for 70 minutes in my trusty aluminium fish kettle.
