Fine wool etamine scarf printed with onion skins [SC313]

Fine wool etamine scarf, hand printed with onion skins by submersion in a dye bath of vinegar, onion skins and iron. [SC313].

This is a light but beautifully warm and vibrant scarf which hugs the neck well to keep out breezes and draughts, and brightens up any dreary winter day.

The fine, pure wool etamine fabric was soaked in 50/50 vinegar/water solution overnight, then bundled up with the onion skins  and simmered in my trusty fish kettle in a dye bath of onions skins and iron, for a couple of hours. This enabled  the onion skin pigments to transfer across to the wool fibres, which were also dyed around the edges by the  bath. 

Measures approx 140cm x 30cm.

Hand wash in warm water [30C] with soap only. DO NOT use detergents.
