WORKSHOP: Seeing Red with Eucalyptus. Sunday February 22nd 2026

There are over 800 varieties of eucalyptus trees, and a small number create stunning leaf prints in red. 

In this botanical 'eco' printing workshop, after an initial introduction to the principles and practice of botanical contact ['eco'] printing, you'll sample different eucalyptus leaves, mostly from my garden, and learn how to 'eco' print with them, using different sustainable methods which harness heat and moisture to mobilise and transfer pigments from plant to natural fibres. 

 

The workshop will be at my home with its swell stocked garden in south Liverpool. Whilst having fun in a relaxed environment, you'll learn how to create a dye bath in which to immerse your bundles of fabric and leaves; how to steam bundles and how to print samples of leaves to identify which print and which do not.

Participant numbers for the workshop are restricted to five, to maximise your experience. A minimum of three students  is normally required for a workshop to run. Given the small size of the group, there will be plenty of time for detailed tuition and discussion, and it enables me to tailor the workshop content to students' experience.
